WHICH Clouds to Use Within your Data Protection Strategy – Part 2 in Series

Each Wednesday in June, I’ll be exploring an aspect of this through a series of videos and blogs – based on ESG’s Data Protection Cloud Strategies research report.

Part 1 – WHY use clouds as part of your data protection strategyJune 7

Part 2 – WHICH clouds to use within your data protection strategy … June 14

Part 3 – HOW to ensure security when using clouds within your data protection strategy … June 21

Part 4 – WHAT products or services might you consider when using clouds within your data protection strategy … June 28

Last week, we covered why the cloud should be part of most data protection strategies, with the recognition of the perception of economic benefits (which can vary widely from service to service) to the agility benefits (which are indisputable). In this installment, let’s discuss WHICH cloud services you should consider, including:

STaaS/dp – cloud-based storage-as-a-service, augmenting on-premises backup software or hardware

BaaS – Backup-as-a-service

DRaaS – Disaster Recovery-as-a-service

IaaS/SaaS – Production infrastructure (IaaS) or software (SaaS), which requires data protection too

To make this easier, this video offers a flowchart to discern “What are you solving for?” and then makes some suggestions of service(s) to consider:

Please check back next Wednesday for part 3 on HOW to ensure security when using clouds within your data protection strategy.

As always, thanks for watching.
